Childcare options on the table

3/07/2008 12:22:00 PM
CONCERNED parents and staff of Dymples Daycare Centre met with centre owner Joey Su, Cooma Monaro Shire mayor, Roger Norton, general manager John Vucic and manager of corporate services for community childcare cooperative Marilyn Thorpe on Tuesday night to discuss options for the centre's future.

Ms Su is currently looking to sell the property and business, which has left, parents feeling uneasy about the future care of their children.

Parent Stephanie McDonald said the issue is going to be catering for the increasing demand for childcare in Cooma in the near future and maintaining the centre as a community run childcare facility is the preferred option.

"There were 25 babies born at the Cooma Hospital in May, and there are about 20 families that use the service some with more than one child," she said.

Mrs McDonald said that many of the families prefer the model of childcare offered at the centre to their more corporate counterparts.
