Keep climate change in check

Being green on the Monaro will be easier to achieve when a new pamphlet offering information about renewable energy is released in the next few months.

The Cooma-Monaro Climate Change Working Group has put together the pamphlet to give Cooma-Monaro residents tips on how to reduce power consumption, and save money and the environment, group secretary Antia Brademann said.

"These pamphlets are designed to be a education tool and summary of the group's findings to help people save energy and see what grants are available for renewable energy and sustainable land management," Ms Brademann said.

"There is so much information out there on energy savings and renewable energy, and it's difficult for people to know what options to explore, however it's all been summarised in this pamphlet.

"Information is the key, we're providing people with this information, and now it's up to them to incorporate changes so the region can transform into a sustainable, low carbon economy and community," she said.

The pamphlets will be available within the next few months and have been made possible thanks to an ANZ Seeds of Renewal grant to cover the $750 cost of printing the pamphlets.

"The Cooma-Monaro Climate Change Working Group would like to thank the ANZ Bank and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal for supporting this project," Ms Brademann said.
