Presentation pre-empts season end

28/08/2008 11:25:00 AM
COOMA will host the annual Group 16 presentation evening this Friday for the second consecutive year.

It is not yet known whether Narooma will be represented at the event after they withdrew from the competition earlier this season, however Group 16 president, Russell Fitzpatrick said Pambula, who also pulled out before the competition ended, would be represented.

Player and MC for the evening, Dave Armstrong, will return to the stage after being compere at last year's presentation.

Queensland State of Origin player Brett Dallas will be guest speaker on the evening.

The Group 16 best and fairest will be awarded for each group, along with leading try scorer, leading point scorer, rookie of the year and coach of the year.

Tickets for the event at the Ex-Services Club will be sold at the door on the night, which has a 7pm for 7.30pm start.

With formalities out of the way the under 18s and 1st grade teams will then be able to concentrate on tackling Bega at home in order to move on to the grand final.

Friday, September 19 will see the season officially draw to a close with the Cooma Rugby League Club's presentation night.

Organisers said the evening would be fun-filled silly, and mad with Cooma's very own footy show inspired hosts.

Organiser Debbie Thomas said there would be an ABBA medley and a Miss Stallions beauty pageant to entertain the crowds.

"The ABBA Medley is absolutely hilarious," Thomas said.

"And for the pageant they will have to wear an evening gown and heels, a sash with their country on it and do a swim suit walk," she said.
